The TrekPod II PLUS is Trek-Tech's entry-level combination of a lightweight, height-adjustable monopod and hiking staff with a fully-integrated tripod to function as a truly multi-use tool of all your image stabilization needs with DSLR's, video cameras and other optical devices. It features a polymer palm rest and foam grip along with MagMount STAR system, an industry 1st;The magnetic quick-release mounting system provides fast mounting and dismounting of your optical devices while the ball head gives you pan, tilt and swivel options. Magmount is an industry first, magnetic quick-release camera and optical device mounting system. It provides for the instant attachment of almost any camera, spotting scope or other device that uses 1/4-20 industry standard mounting stud. A safety clip that stores below the ball head securely locks your device to the MagMount ball head. It comes with a Light Force MagAdaptor for lighter weigh devices and a Heavy Force MagAdaptor with new "screw-down" functionality for the bottom of your DSLR or Optical Device. MagMount STAR is a standard feature of the TrekPod II PLUS, but is also available as a separate accessory. MagMount provides unprecedented levels of flexibility and functionality for outdoor photographers, birders, and hunters. Many additional uses have also been suggested, such as portable lighting, microphone mounting, etc. Once you've used a MagMount in conjunction with any of your optics stabilisation tools, you'll wonder why no one thought of this concept before! The weight of the TrekPod II PLUS is only .765kg (including MagMount) and breaks down into 2 pieces for easy portability and storage. The height range in monopod/hiking mode is 119 to 158.8cm and in tripod mode is 109 to 146cm. For use indoors where traditional tripods are not allowed (zoos and museums) and also outdoors for all your nature/sports, photography or wildlife viewing needs. A great idea made simple!
